AutoBolt Condition Monitoring


AutoBolt can be configured to perfom Condition Monitoring (CM) of the state of each bolt throughout the WTG lifetime. AutoBolt CM can be installed by one operator in less than 5 minutes and perform a fully automated 360 degree drive around the flange in less than 5 minutes - inspecting and documenting the state of each bolt as well as flange gap.


AutoBolt CM utilizes the same drive mechanism in the form of Caterpillars and same Battery Unit as used in AutoBolt configured for bolt tightening. Only the Main Unit is exchanged by a Configuration Monitoring Unit.


Key Properties


  • AutoBolt CM can be installed in any location of the flange - the system automatically identifies bolt No. 1 in the sequence
  • The CM Unit takes a picture of each bolt which enables identification of possible changes in state - including actual bolt elongation and thus bolt pre-tension level
  • Data stored in tamper-free files providing a life-time history of development of bolt tighening level from initial tightening (assuming AutoBolt was used for this operation)


Modular Design


AutoBolt CM consists of 5 modules that are easily assembled with no tools needed:


  1. Left Caterpillar propulsion module 
  2. Right Caterpillar propulsion module
  3. Condition Monitoring Unit that contains hi-res camera and other sensors 
  4. Control Unit
  5. Interchangable Battery Packs
